How To Cross The Ocean of Dunya Without Drowning
By Yasmin Mogahed
Opening and Introduction
As-salamu alaykum. So this is my last day in Malaysia. It's sad to leave, but I've had an amazing time here. May Allah bless you all. You have a beautiful country, full of really, really beautiful and generous and hospitable people. Inshallah.
The Ocean Metaphor: Understanding Dunya
There is this very amazing thing about the ocean. The same spellbinding waves which we can enter them. Water, the same substance necessary to sustain life, can also end life in drowning.
And the same ocean that holds ships afloat can also shatter those ships to pieces. This life, the dunya, is just like that ocean. And our hearts are like the ships.
The Ship and the Ocean
We can use the ocean for our needs and as a means to get to our final destination. As long as the ocean's water remains outside of the ship, the ship will continue to float and to be in control. But what happens as soon as the water creeps into the ship? What happens when this dunya is not just water outside of our hearts? When the dunya is no longer just a means? What happens when the dunya enters our heart? That is when the boat sinks.
That is when the heart is taken hostage and becomes a slave. And that is when the dunya, which was once under our control, begins to control us. When the ocean's water enters and overtakes a ship, that ship is no longer in control.
The boat then becomes at the mercy of the ocean. And like the ocean's water entering the boat, the moment that we allow the dunya to enter our hearts, we also sink. The ocean was never intended to enter the boat.
Dunya as a Means, Not an End
It was intended only as a means that must remain outside of it. The dunya also was never intended to enter our hearts. It is only a means that must never enter us or control us.
That is why Allah repeatedly refers to the dunya in the Quran as a (متاع - mataa). The word mataa can be translated as resource for transitory worldly delights. It is a resource, a tool.
It is the path, not the destination. To stay afloat, we must view this world in exactly the same way.
Reflecting on Allah's Creation
For Allah has told us that verily in the creation of the heavens and the earth are signs for those who reflect.
Verily in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for those who reflect. Those who remember Allah while standing, sitting, and on their sides. And they reflect in the creation of the heavens and the earth.
People of Understanding
Allah is saying in these ayats in surat al-imran that indeed in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alteration of day and night are signs for those who reflect, those of understanding. Those who remember Allah while standing, sitting, and on their sides.
Allah goes on to explain those people, to describe those people as those who remember Allah while standing, sitting, and on their sides. When you examine this, you realize that there is no other position left. You're either standing or you're sitting or you're on your side.
And here Allah is saying that these are a people who are always remembering Him. And they're a people who look at the creation of the heavens and the earth. They reflect in the creation of the heavens and the earth.
Our Lord, You have not created this in vain. They reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth. And they are led to this realization that Our Lord, You have not created this in vain.
Understanding Our Purpose
Oh Allah, You have not created all of this without a purpose. You are high above, exalted above that. Allah is exalted above doing anything without a purpose.
And then immediately they are led to this: (فَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ - Protect us from the punishment of hellfire). Why is that? If everything that Allah has created And everything that Allah does is with a purpose Then immediately it leads you to (فَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ - Protect us from the punishment of hellfire).
Why is that? If everything that was created in the heavens and the earth has a purpose Then doesn't that mean that you also have a purpose? Doesn't that mean that your creation also has a purpose? And if you are not fulfilling that purpose Then what would be our end? So we ask Allah immediately For protection from that fate Of not fulfilling our purpose And then ending up in the hellfire (أعوذ بالله).
Ten Principles for Crossing the Ocean of Dunya
To stay afloat in this ocean of dunya We have to realize a few things In order to be successful.
1. Know Your Goal
First, we need to know our goal When you are in a race You are never going to get to the finish line Or where you need to be If you don't know where that is We need to know our goal And our goal is Allah We need to know that We need to know Him.
Allah says in the Quran:
They have not estimated or measured or appraised Allah, His due appraisal His due measure His due estimate If you examine this ayah You realize that all of our problems Boil down to this That we really don't estimate Allah as He really is We don't know Allah as He really is.
And because of that we fall into every other problem Because of the fact that we don't really know Allah We can find greatness in other than Allah Because we don't understand Allah's greatness We can fear other than Allah Because we don't really understand who Allah is And we can worship and we can love other things More than Allah Only because we don't really know who Allah is And we don't really realize His right upon us.
Allah is the only true reality By which every single other thing exists There is a creator and there is a creation That's it There is Allah and everything else Everything else is His creation That includes not just you But even what you feel Even what you experience Everything else is His creation Allah is the only goal And you have to keep that focus in mind If you are going to end up at Allah.
2. Know Your Purpose
One of our biggest problems is that our hearts lose focus Our hearts drown in the ocean of dunya The moment that they lose that focus on Allah So our hearts start to face other things Our hearts start to face other things in the dunya Our hearts start to face other things that we begin to strive for More than Allah.
Second, we need to know our purpose with regards to that goal Allah is the goal And our purpose, Allah says very clearly in the Quran And you'll notice that this is a question which a lot of people ask Whether you're Muslim or you're not Muslim Whether you're an atheist or you believe in a god This is usually a question that people ask And that is, what am I doing here?
We know that we exist, we ended up here somehow What am I doing here? What's my purpose? Where did I come from? Where am I going? Allah answers this question in the Quran And he says:
Very very clear Allah says, we have not created jinn and human beings Except to serve us Except to fulfill our worship to Allah.
You notice here, there's a very special construction of this ayah The ayah begins by saying, by negating in fact The ayah does not just say that our purpose is to worship Allah Because if the ayah said our purpose is to worship Allah One could argue that our purpose is to worship Allah And to make a lot of money Or our purpose is to worship Allah and be very popular And have a lot of status And be very pretty or thin or fashionable We could assign another purpose.
But the ayah says: (وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنسَ - We have not created jinn and ins First negates any other purpose) إلا And then adds (إِلَّا The exception, except Except to fulfill our worship to Allah To serve Allah) This is our only singular purpose.
And you'll notice this similar construction in our shahada Same concept This concept of oneness There's just one, tawheed Oneness of worship Oneness of purpose One God One focus, one goal Just one, there can't be more than one So when you say:
Do you notice a similar construction here? You start out with (لا إله Which is actually completely negating any ilah) You say, I bear witness that there is no ilah There is nothing worthy of my worship There is no ilah And then you say (إلا الله And again, this is to say that there isn't Allah as an ilah and something else It's nothing, there is no other ilah And then there is Allah Singular, tawheed) This defines our purpose - (عُبُودِيَّةُ اللهِ سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى)
That is extremely important You cannot be successful in this life You cannot be successful in crossing this ocean of dunya without drowning If you don't know what you're doing here You have to be very clear of what you're doing here Because that is what puts everything else into perspective Every other role that you have Falls under this umbrella role Of being a slave to your master So when you're a wife, it falls under that umbrella When you're a mother, it falls under that umbrella When you are a career woman, it falls under that umbrella Everything else, when you're a daughter When you're a son, when you're a husband Any other role falls under that.
3. Understand This Ocean - The Nature of Dunya
Third, in order to be successful In crossing the ocean of dunya without drowning You need to understand this ocean You need to understand the dunya You cannot be successful in tackling this In overcoming it, in mastering it You cannot master this matrix Unless you understand it first.
Dunya is Temporary
The first characteristic that you need to understand About this ocean called dunya Is that it is temporary The Prophet ﷺ When describing this life And his journey in this life He said that I am in this life Like a stranger or a traveler (Bukhari hadith 6416) And this is, you know In one situation when he was being offered Some comfortable thing to sleep on He said, what do I have to do with this life?
He realized and he knew and he taught us That he and all of us are just traveling in this life Think for a moment about when you travel Right now I'm a traveler Literally, right? We're all travelers in this life But I'm traveling here in Malaysia Think about what happens when you're traveling When you're traveling there's a few characteristics Something that's different.
When you go and you stay in a place Say you're staying in a hotel when you're traveling And you know that you're only there for a few days How attached do you become to your hotel room? How attached do you become to your bed, your desk Whatever they have in that room How many of you, I don't know anyone Raise your hand if when you go to that hotel You now start buying lots of furniture You'd want to decorate the room You know, put up some pictures on the wall I don't think anyone does that Why? Why does no one do that? Because you know that you're leaving And you're not too attached to that room.
The Path of the Heart
Remember that we were born In order to die We were not born in order to live When we were born in this life We entered into a path A path to Allah. Let me ask you this question though What is it a path of? What exactly is moving to Allah? Reflect on this for a second When you were born Did you look like you look now? No Did your body look anything like it looks now? No Because there are no babies in this room Or adults We look different than we were born So this path is not the path of a body Right? Because our body is completely different This is a path of the heart The heart is what is going to Allah So we have to make sure that our heart is actually moving.
And there is this very very beautiful statement Of one of the great shuyukh that says Why is it that I see you Standing and sitting and kneeling and prostrating Staying up and working hard And yet your heart has not moved And has not left any of its habits Has not moved from its place?
You see we put in a lot of efforts sometimes with our body We put in a lot of deeds perhaps We are working hard Sometimes we are working very hard Even in the cause of Allah May Allah reward you And
yet we find that the heart does not change The heart does not move And we don't change our habits at all.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
(Al-Ghazali's Ihya Ulum al-Din)
Die before your death. This is a very deep statement on many levels For one, it is reminding us to hold ourselves accountable Before we are held accountable Hold yourself accountable before you are held accountable But it's something else too It's also about detachment Die before your death If you have already died to this life You are not attached to it anymore.
Dunya is Imperfect by Definition
Second aspect of this dunya Under this category of understanding the matrix Understanding the dunya in order to master it Is that this life by definition is imperfect This life by definition is imperfect I will tell you that as an idealist myself Not realizing this will cause you a lot of problems If you expect something to be perfect that is not perfect By definition you will have a lot of problems.
This life Allah says That this life is not perfectly good But it's not perfectly bad either Allah tells us This ayah which we have learned since we were very young:
Is usually translated how? Someone tell me Does anyone know how this ayah is translated? You know the right answer You probably read this Usually people mistranslate this verse as After hardship comes ease I don't know why But the ayah doesn't say after hardship comes ease Because after in Arabic is بعد And it doesn't say But it says مَعَ is a different preposition which means with At the same time With hardship comes ease That's what this life is It is a big salad of hardship and ease together Allah gives you the hardship But he also gives you the ease at the same time.
Dunya is a Test
Third aspect of this world That we need to understand to be successful Is that this life is a test This life is a test We're not just going through this life Going through the motions For no reason You are being watched You know, like If you thought there was like a spy in the room You'd act, you know, kind of different Maybe, maybe not You'd be uncomfortable, probably But you know, if you're being watched You act very differently Than if you think you're alone You are being watched And you are being judged.
Allah tells us in surah al-mulk:
He is the one who created death and life Created death and life In order to test you Which of you are best in deeds So Allah is clearly telling us here The reason he created this whole idea of life on this earth Life on this earth Life and death Is to test you which of you are best in deeds The purpose of our creation in general is to worship Allah The purpose of putting us in this life is to test us Are we fulfilling that purpose.
Dunya is a Means, Not an End
Lastly This life is a means not an end It's a tool It's not the destination itself So we use this life But we don't fall in love with this life And it's just like I hand you a toolbox And I tell you take these tools and build a house There are some people who will take that toolbox And instead of using it to build a house Fall in love with the hammer And get so distracted Because they're just in love with this hammer.
Ali has this very beautiful statement Where he says that Zuhd You know being detached from this life Is not that you do not own anything But that nothing owns you So it isn't that we don't own money It isn't that we don't have families It isn't that we don't get married It's that those things don't own us We can have money but our money should not own us We own the money We should be in control of the boat in the dunya It should not be that the ocean now controls our boat.
4. Plan for Tomorrow
If you want to be successful in your career You have to plan for what you're going to do after you graduate If you want to be promoted to the next level in your job You have to plan, right You make a plan Allah says:
Allah here is addressing the believers. The first advice is have taqwa of Allah Have consciousness and fear of Allah Know that he's watching you That you're going to be asked That you're going to stand in front of him So have taqwa of Allah.
وَلْتَنظُرْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ لِغَدٍ - And let every person know what they have put forth for tomorrow Here Allah is reminding us to plan for tomorrow And it is not the tomorrow of 12 hours from now Or what are we going to do tomorrow on Monday Tomorrow I'm going to catch a flight It's not that tomorrow But the tomorrow capital T The tomorrow that comes after this life Plan for that tomorrow.
5. Remember Allah
Remember Allah The remembrance of Allah You cannot be in this life without drowning If you do not consistently remember Allah You need to realize that Allah And his remembrance is just like food is for your body The remembrance of Allah to the heart Is like food is to the body Is like water is to a fish The remembrance of Allah is absolutely necessary for survival.
Allah then goes on in this After Allah says:
And then after this later on Allah says:
he made them forget their own selves Have you guys ever been through a stage in your life Or known someone who's completely Sort of like an identity crisis You know when someone you just don't know who you are.
The Consequences of Forgetting Allah
Turning away from the remembrance of Allah Has some very very scary consequences One of them is Allah says That the one who turns away from the remembrance of Allah For him there is a shaitan appointed to that person And that shaitan becomes chained to that person And he becomes his most intimate companion.
Allah also says:
The one who turns away from my remembrance Will have a miserable, narrow life مَعِيشَةً ضَنكاً It's a miserable, narrow life No matter what you may think It seems you know Sometimes you look at people Who have maybe a lot of money Or very famous You know they seem to be In some people's eyes living the life Right, you know all their life is pleasure And happiness That is a complete illusion.
And rather the fruits of his remembrance Allah says:
That indeed in the remembrance of Allah Do the hearts find peace and satisfaction And truly that's the only true Peace and satisfaction Is in the remembrance and nearness to Allah.
6. Protect Yourself from Shaitan
To be successful in this life Without drowning Protect yourself from One of your greatest enemies The external enemy of Shaitan Protect your heart from Shaitan Allah has told us and warned us That Shaitan is an open enemy to us Protect yourself And the protection The only protection in fact.
There is no other refuge From Shaitan except In the remembrance and nearness to Allah Protect yourself from Shaitan Through Consistently remembering Allah Through your prayers Through salah Through connecting your hearts to the Quran Through dhikr, through dua Consistently making dua To Allah This is how you protect your heart from Shaitan.
7. Guard Yourself from Your Nafs
We said that we have an external enemy Which is Shaitan We also have another enemy Inside our own selves And that is our own nafs Guard yourself From your own self Guard yourself from your own self Protect yourself From the lower self That we all have to Subjugate By the help of Allah.
The way to Guard yourself from your nafs Is you need to starve it That's one way So there's They say that the scholars say There's two It's kind of like a two step process In trying to subjugate the nafs First is that you want to starve the nafs Starving the nafs Means withholding the things That feed the nafs The things that make the nafs stronger One of those things is Too much talking Too much eating.
And the second part of that Is overburdening the nafs With more ibadah The more ibadah you do The more it's tiring the nafs The lower self So you starve it and you overburden it Kind of like a wild horse When you want to tame a wild horse How do you do it? You reduce the food intake And you overburden it And the nafs is like a wild horse The nafs is like a wild sort of beast That we have inside of us that we need to tame.
8. Guard Yourself from Your Sins
Guard yourself from your own sins Guard yourself from your own zulm Realize that your sins Are a veil Between you and Allah The more sins That you commit without repenting The more you're Building a veil Between your heart and Allah So the way To remove that Is through continuous and consistent Tawbah Repentance, turning back to Allah And seeking his forgiveness This is what cleans the heart And it needs to be consistent.
What would happen if a person took a shower Once a year? There would be a lot of problems Right? If we are not Cleaning our hearts through tawbah What's going to happen? Just like the body Gets full of dirt, the heart gets full of dirt Because we're not perfect We're not angels We're always constantly sinning We have to constantly be seeking forgiveness And cleaning the heart.
9. Guard Your Heart
Guard your heart Your heart Is the apparatus that is moving Towards Allah And your heart is what Allah Is looking at We're told that Allah does not Look at our bodies but it is the heart Inside of our chest that Allah looks at.
And we know From the words of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) We know from the words of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) That on the day of judgment He says:
Ibrahim (peace be upon him) Here is talking about saying it is the day When no money No wealth, no children Can help you All these things That sometimes help a person In this life, these things, status, money Children, power Those things are not going to Help you at all On the real day, in the real life إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى اللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ Except the one who comes to Allah With a heart that is saleem With a heart that is sound A heart that is clean A heart that is full of لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللهِ That heart Is the only one that's going to be successful On the day of judgment.
10. Maintain a Personal Connection with Allah
Lastly You need, you must In order to be successful in this life Without drowning You must maintain a personal connection With Allah It is never enough To just have a really really great teacher Or to have A really great sheikh that you follow You Specifically have to build That personal connection with Allah And that happens through your prayers And specifically In the time Of the last Third of the night The prayer, the qiyam, the time Before Fajr.
Allah says in the Hadith Qudsi That during this time Allah comes to the lowest heaven And he asks Who is calling on me so I can answer their call Who is seeking forgiveness From me so I can forgive them (Bukhari hadith 1145) At this point Allah is the one Looking and asking Who's calling on me It's when Allah is nearest to us So in the last third of the night Which means the time just before Fajr That's when We can really really connect to Allah When there's no other distractions.
Another Very important way To stay connected to Allah Is through dua Asking Allah All the time Always talking to Allah You can imagine that with a friend How do you become Really really close to a friend You guys are constantly Communicating right You know you're either talking on the phone Or you're text messaging or you're on Facebook But you're always Connected with this person through constantly Communicating with them Constantly talking with them When you're constantly talking To Allah Communicating with Allah It builds that relationship with him.
Conclusion and Dua
So we ask Allah This That he protects our hearts From drowning in the ocean of dunya We ask Allah To purify our hearts To keep our hearts Truthful to him To keep our hearts sincere.
Q&A Session
Question 1: How to Align the Heart with Worship
Question: Earlier in your speech You mentioned that Sometimes we pray, we fast, we do everything But our heart does not really Go in line with what we do And I do experience this sometimes And How do you make sure How do you ensure your heart Goes along with your ibadah With your prayers And with the things you do for Allah How do you move your heart?
Question 2: Dealing with Bad Company vs. Dawah
Question: We have heard about To avoid the bad company Who makes us forget about Allah So in real life Sometimes we have Friends or close people Who are not that kind of practicing Muslims So in that concept What should we actually do Should we avoid them or is it our responsibility To be with them to advise them?
There is this natural question Of where do you draw the line In terms of being around bad company That's affecting you Versus dawah I think it's extremely important That we Here's the thing We have to understand that none of us Are angels None of us are superheroes That we don't become susceptible To things We're human beings.
(Bukhari)
The Prophet ﷺ Has said that the one Who is in bad company Versus the one who is in good company He compares the two And he says that the good company is like Entering a perfume shop... When you enter bath and body works Whether you buy something or you don't You always come out smelling really good Right because you put on every sample of Lotion on your hand Right so you're like a mix Of flowers and fruits.
(Bukhari)
And so the prophet ﷺ Has said I'm saying that having good company Is like entering a perfume shop Even if you don't come out With you know you end up buying something You come out smelling better Smelling good When you're in the company of good people Even if you're not exactly like them It still comes out on you.
Question 3: Understanding Hardship and Decision Making
Question: There is a saying Your world is a deception Sometimes you are not sure For example Between hardship And what major in the world So what one Enjoying Those people who have prayer here And have everything but life Enjoying life...
The way that you know The difference between the two Is in What was the result Of the hardship So some hardship Can befall Someone Someone might face a hardship And because of that hardship It brings them back to Allah Then you know That this hardship was a blessing For them That Allah gave them this hardship as a gift In order to bring that person back To Him If that hardship brings you closer to Allah You know Allah Has blessed you.
However There are some hardships that actually Make a person go Farther from Allah That type of hardship Is an indication That it is a punishment Because it is not Bringing you closer to Allah In fact it is doing the opposite.
Allah says:
Who have transgressed against your own selves Never despair Of the mercy of Allah So this is something that we can Always fix and always come back to Allah even if we did have the wrong response But ultimately anything That brings you closer to Allah Is a blessing from him Even if it's a hardship.
(Bukhari hadith 5641)
The Prophet ﷺ teaches us when he said: Any hardship or Sadness or calamity That befalls a believer Removes sins From that believer like leaves falling from a tree And even the prick of a thorn Something even that small It will remove your sins like leaves Falling from a tree But you have to respond with patience You have to respond in the right way.
About Decision Making and Istikhara
The second question You asked was about making decisions Very good question You want That Allah Will guide your decisions right But she's saying We end up having to make decisions So how do you do that?
What I have learned Is that there's two ways To make a decision You can either make a decision By Allah Or you can make a decision By your own nafs So I am Either using my nafs To make the decision or I am making it By Allah Any decision That you make By the nafs will always Be the wrong decision.
Any decision That is made in the right way So let me emphasize this It's not really which decision You make It's how you make the decision It's the way you make the decision So if you make it in the right way Meaning that you're seeking Allah In making the decision No matter what happens As a result of the decision It will be good for you And you will be at peace with it.
This is the concept of istikhara by the way Is that when you have a decision You give it to Allah You make istikhara You pray istikhara The two rakats With the intention of istikhara You read the dua of istikhara In this dua you're asking Allah If this is good for me Then make it easy Put barakah in it And if it is not good for me And it's you know In this life Basically in your deen and in your dunya If it is not good for me If it's not good for me Take it away from me And take me away from it And bring me what's good And make me pleased with it.
It may be that you hate something But it is good for you And it may be that you love something And it's bad for you We have to be willing to realize that.
Question 4: About Detachment and Love
Question: I wanted to ask about You talk about detachment from this life And I wanted to Understand the detachment With love for example We have love in our hearts for maybe our parents Or our husband Or our children Which we love very much And sometimes it's very difficult To even think about for example The thought of losing The child The thought of losing parents is too much But how do you reconcile That detachment with the love?
So this is a Very difficult question And the idea here is Sometimes When Allah gives us Gifts We become so attached To the gift More than the giver So when Allah gives us Spouses and children and money We sometimes love Those things as we should only love Allah.
And the way that we know That we are too attached To those things is actually One of the ways to know it Is the amount of fear That we feel At the thought, just the thought Of losing it We are so consumed with fear At losing it That is an indication That we have an improper attachment to it.
And there is A difference between Loving In the proper way And attachments When I say attachments I'm talking About This Absolute dependency Or taking something And putting it in a place that only Allah Should be Where I cannot live without it We have to Be very careful That the only thing That I cannot live without Is Allah.
Other than that, we love to have His gifts, we love our children We love our spouses We love our money And our fancy car And our big home We love these things, we love gifts But these things Have to be in the hand And not in the heart That means if those things are taken away We can still We will be sad Yes But this does not completely destroy us It's only when An object of attachment is taken away That we are destroyed.
Our problem is that we hold on to Things other than Allah To support us, to hold us up And those things break Because They're not meant to hold us up They're not That's not what they were created to do Only Allah can hold us So it's only the handhold of Allah That's going to keep us firm Everything else, if you try to hold on to it With all your weight, it will break.
So what we need to do is hold on to Allah Fill our hearts with Allah And then everything else that we love Becomes for His sake That's completely different Than loving for the sake Of that thing itself When I love for the sake of Allah It's kind of conceptually You think about a cup A cup can only hold So much liquid, right? If you fill that cup With Allah If you fill that cup with Allah Practically through remembering Him a lot By the way, in the Quran When the commandment is given to remember Allah It doesn't just say remember Allah It comes with the adjective Or adverb A lot A lot So the remembrance needs to be a lot The more you do that, your heart becomes full Now your heart is full of Allah Everything else that you love Is through Allah.
Question 5: Practicing Islam in Non-Muslim Environments
Question: I'm very interested in Your anecdote about How you were the only one who Would hijab in your class And Follow up to that I'd like to know How do you practice your Islam In that environment Because when I go away from Malaysia You know Malaysia is A place where you can pray Like anywhere, there's a mosque Everywhere But if you travel to a non-Muslim country You find that when you're visiting It's difficult to Pray when there's no place to pray So how do you practice it Where you are?
The main part of the answer That I want to share Is it really, again It goes back to building a close Relationship with Allah Because when you build a close Relationship with Allah He gives you the strength He gives you the strength And he also gives you The correct Sight to see things As they really are.
So when you're in a situation and you're the only One wearing hijab for example Or you're the only one praying Instead of looking At that situation and saying Wow I'm the odd one out Instead you look at it And you say Alhamdulillah I'm the only one Who's fulfilling the purpose Of our creation I'm the only one Alhamdulillah Allah chose me in this group Of people to be the one To worship him You see it very differently You see it and you say that On the day of judgment These people Are gonna wish that they were Doing what I'm doing right now So you see the whole situation Very differently when you're Close to Allah Allah gives you, first he gives you the strength And second gives you the basira The sight to really see Things as they really are.
Final Words
Allah knows best So I think that's That's all If there's anything that I said That was wrong, it's from myself And I ask Allah to forgive me And if there was anything good or beneficial From Allah.
As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
