Student Testimonials
By Allah, your approach and the approach of the teachers, I found it the best approach that I have seen in the world. And I find myself developing annually and benefiting. And I mean, I don't just want everyone to benefit from this beautiful program.
You exceed our expectations a lot. May Allah bless you. Alhamdulillah, alhamdulillah.
The teachers here are literally the best of the best. It was the best experience of my life and probably one of the hardest things I've ever done. I believe this is one of the best programs to learn Arabic as a language in the world.
It's amazing. You really feel as if you are in a country where they speak Arabic. I couldn't build a sentence. I knew maybe two words. And now I can do presentations. I think I've come really far.
Nouman Ali Khan's Personal Experience
And what excites me about Aromer and this campus and the summer program that we're doing, is they actually get to immerse themselves and get a first taste of full on Arabic immersion with expert Arabic teachers. I myself am actually going to be a student this year. I'm going to take a test, figure out what level I'm at, and I'm going to beat myself up in this Arabic program along with you guys.
International Program Success
To be able to bring 200 or 300 students from one country, but to be able to bring a large number of about 19 countries, this is not something normal or easy. Yes. We told them that the secret was that we worked with Bayyinah, and that there are many Arabic students, Arabic fans, and Arabic lovers who are trying to learn from Bayyinah.
So we have been in Bayyinah since many years. I did grammar with Ustadh Nouman. I participated in the Dream Program.
As soon as I became a Bayyinah student through Bayyinah, I found out about this program. I heard about it through Bayyinah Dream Program. I got a notification.
I saw this advert for an Arabic course all the way in Istanbul. My daughter, Nouman Ali Khan, told me that there is a summer course in Istanbul. They told us that during the summer, there is a program in Istanbul called Aromer, for people who want to learn Arabic.
And of course, it's recommended by Ustadh Nouman. He always recommends the best. Then we follow his point of view.
The Bayyinah Connection
I do not exaggerate in these matters. We noticed that the number of students who come from my Bayyinah team is actually at a high level in terms of science, literature, and kindness. And also in terms of passion for learning.
Of course. There is a strong enthusiasm. Yes, of course.
Alhamdulillah. From my point of view, I noticed that this year, the specialties are a little different from the previous specialties. And I noticed, insha'Allah, a very strong potential this year.
Yes. In fact, they have a passion for learning. And sometimes when we welcome new graduates from outside Turkey, the students' goals are different.
Some of them want to learn Arabic for business. Some of them want to learn Arabic for tourism, and so on. In fact, the common denominator that brings together the students of Bayyinah is that they have a passion for Arabic because it is the language of the Quran.
And that there is a desire to learn Arabic so that the student understands the presence of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in his own language.
Speaking-Focused Methodology
Firstly, many courses across the Western world and online focus on studying Arabic from a grammar perspective. This is more focused on studying Arabic as a language and still speaking.
Speaking is very important in this program. Before, I studied a lot of grammar, but I didn't study a lot of speaking, language, expressions, and debates about some topics. I think it's a great asset to explore that area of language.
I realize learning a language is very similar. You can learn the grammar in your own time, in your own little dark room, but if you want to use the language and actually breathe the language that Allah sent the Quran through, you have to have other people who are interested in developing with you, and you have to have that interaction and actually communicate with that language. I love this, it's very important.
Because how can I know the direction, but I can't express it, and I can't express important topics. As for myself, I felt a great development from last year to this year. I was hesitating a lot about speaking last year, and my goals were different, and they were more related to etiquette.
But I noticed in myself the difficulty in expressing some meanings and expressing my thoughts. By Allah, your approach and the approach of the teachers, I found it the best approach I've seen in the world. Alhamdulillah.
Remarkable Progress Stories
It was simple for me. I actually understood what the teacher was saying. I could understand the sentence formation, grammar, just everything.
I felt like, wow, I was one of the top students in the class, right? But before Aromer, I couldn't speak for a million dollars. Now I can basically, I can string a couple of sentences together and speak Arabic. So it's really helped.
The one thing that Aromer has helped with a lot is vocabulary. So for instance, I got an Arabic translation of an English book I had read before. If I hadn't learned the vocab here, I wouldn't have been able to read it.
I couldn't build a sentence. I knew maybe two words. And now I can do presentations. I think I've come really far. We already had three presentations in three weeks. That's incredible.
And also to write, I wasn't able to write any sentence, because I didn't actually learn writing. And now after three weeks, I mean, I can just write as it's natural for me.
It's my ninth day, and I can explain myself in Arabic, explain different objects in Arabic, my family, introduce things. I can go to shops and converse easily. So within only ten days, I have gained so much of the everyday language and how to converse with people.
I know with confidence that they will benefit from this experience for the rest of their lives. Insha'Allah.
The Teaching Excellence
In reality, when people ask us, they say, who is the group that you have? We say, it's a clear group. They say, oh, our teacher, who is he? We say, yes.
Sometimes we say, he's also here. They say, oh, he teaches the students. I tell them, in reality, he's a great teacher.
But he comes, may Allah reward him well, he wants to benefit from it as well. That's why we have opened a class above the advanced level, not just the advanced level, so that we can teach the Arabic to the goals of literature, communication, dialogue, speech, and so on. And so, alhamdulillah, this was also added to make it clear to us.
We don't claim that we are the ones who have achieved an added value to make it clear. We say that the two institutions have achieved an added value to the partner institution. And this is what distinguishes the project.
You have exceeded our expectations by a lot. May Allah bless you. Alhamdulillah.
Alhamdulillah. I really wanted to talk to you about teachers, because I think that I've found one of the best teachers in my life here. They encourage us so much, and they really help you.
And they really help you to grow, you know? This growth mindset, and it's so beautiful, and it's the best thing.
The teachers at Aromer are top-notch. First class. You'd think they'd be tutoring a member of the royal family. They're really incredible.
No student is a native speaker. We all are from different parts of the world. But the teachers, they're all native speakers. And so we're benefiting from their experience.
The teachers are extremely nice. The staff are very competent, and I really feel like I'm in safe hands. And really just taking that leap into the deep end and forcing yourself to speak Arabic even when you know about 30% of what you want to actually say.
And they really come to your level to explain it to you, despite the language barrier.
And each teacher knows your name after five minutes. They memorized it, know what city you're from, what age you are. And they just constantly help you. They stay two hours after class, just one-on-one student helping you.
And subhanAllah, you don't get that anywhere else.
Immersive Learning Environment
Sometimes when you ask the teacher, wait, what does this mean? And you have to ask in Arabic. You can't say, wait, what does that mean? You have to say, ماذا يعني هذا؟ And often the teacher will explain the word, but they won't do it in English.
They won't even give you the translation. They would explain the word in Arabic. It's sort of like we're being treated as if we're competent.
I think that Ustadh Ibrahim, the way he has taken up this course, he has managed all of the things together, from learning Arabic, writing, to listening, to filling different vocab things, watching movies.
The teachers here are literally the best of the best. It's beyond what's expected. And every teacher here is special in their own way, the way they teach, the way they interact. And you feel it in your heart that they genuinely want you to succeed. They genuinely want you to learn Arabic.
This is their lifelong dream. And they want you to do really well.
What about Dr. Ibrahim? Does he give you so many assignments or what? I appreciate the assignments. I'm one of the few people that enjoys writing the book. Because I write the whole book. I learn more and I remember.
And he has a beautiful voice. The best part about it is that we recite a nasheed together. And I feel like it's so beautiful, so engaging. And we engage in the culture as well as the Islamic heritage and the Arabic language.
Intensive Learning Experience
Today, it really boosted me and helped me to learn more Arabic. The fact that it was so intense. It's very fast-paced. So you're moving, you're learning something new every single day.
Actually, not something. You're learning multiple things that are new. And I'm still stuck on a week one sometimes. And seeing all my classmates keeping up makes me want to make sure that I do my best. And it's really pushing me to, I guess, learn Arabic faster than I would have anywhere else.
In the normal Arabic courses, they make you learn Arabic, but the Aromer kind of forces you to produce Arabic. And that was something unique that I found out here that they kind of forces you to speak in Arabic and write in Arabic.
And it was actually very funny because we could study together. So all the conversations, we could do them at home. And that's something that we as a couple really had a privilege. And we would also encourage the couples out here that just do that step and come to a new journey.
Supportive Community
I was kind of frustrated and was saying, yeah, this is all so tough. And she said to me that, you know what? Actually, you are a good influence for the other students because they see you, when they see you struggling, then they realize that if this guy can do it, then we can do it also.
And everybody's so eager to learn Arabic. It makes me motivated as well. I love that about this course so much.
And Ustadh being here and him coming forward to help us with all the questions and everything, it's really a motivation to keep going. Ustadh Nouman, same thing with him.
When you walk down the hallways, he's very approachable. I will take my homework to him or if I have a speech that I have to give or even if I have a question to ask him, he takes time out. He pauses whatever he's doing or saying, you know, having a conversation with someone, he pauses.
He takes time to explain things to you. If you're having trouble with grammar, he's very approachable.
Even if you're a beginner, which I was, I highly recommend you do the program. It will absolutely benefit you. You'll love it. I came back. I said I wouldn't come back and I came back for level two. Alhamdulillah. I'm really enjoying it.
Registration Process
Registering for this year's Arabic Summer Intensive at Aromer is really easy. First, apply and take the placement test. If you're shortlisted, you'll be placed into one of eight levels. Then, pay the deposit to secure your place. Now get ready. It's time to make your way to the beautiful city of Istanbul and begin your journey towards completely transforming your Arabic language skills.
Embracing the Challenge
When it comes to people that say, ah, it's intensive, it's too intense. Well, that's kind of the point. Because if you are interested in Arabic, then you will have the drive to keep pushing, to keep working.
As I said, you will find your level. You will find a level that fits you. We have so many levels from one to, I don't know, eight or something. And there are people that start from zero. There are people that start from having a background already. So, don't hesitate.
There is a place for you, for sure, in this program. Insha'Allah. Alhamdulillah.
Even though it's very hard, very fast-paced, it's all worth it in the end. You just have to put in the effort, and the effort will absolutely be guaranteed to pay off.
Long-term Commitment
Some students ask me, last year and this year, will there be a next year? I say, listen, we've been together for at least 10 years, insha'Allah. This is at least, because I believe that success is not about starting, success is about continuing.
I ask Allah, Almighty, to accept from you, Ameen, Ameen, and from all of your group here, and your team, these blessed efforts. May Allah bless you. I ask Allah, Almighty, to be and to continue investing from you as well. By Allah's will.
By Allah's will. We will be very happy with that. Insha'Allah, alhamdulillah. May Allah reward you well. Thank you for this interview. May Allah protect you.
By Allah's will. And I always hope that you feel that you are at your home, Aromer. You are not guests here. This is how I feel. You are family. This is how I feel. In your home, in your institution. And it pleases me to be a student like the students. Thank you.
Alhamdulillah. May Allah protect you. May Allah bless you. Thank you, to all the teachers. JazakAllahu khayran.
